Neil Island, a Striking Island of Andaman’s



Neil Island is a small beautiful island situated at a distance of around 37 km to the southern part of Andaman Islands. The Neil Island features with rich marine life, lush green surroundings of paddy fields,
banana plantations and tropical forests. The island is linked with Port Blair by daily speedboats and it stands as a perfect destination for the natural enthusiasts. The sea surrounding this island is shallow, featuring vast colorful coral formations. It is at a distance of around 32 km east of Port Blair.

Neil Island is widely known as the 'vegetable bowl' of the Andaman's as vegetables are cultivated on this island and supplied to other islands of Andaman. Some of the chief attractions of this island are the gorgeous sandy beaches along with other alluring spots. The locals of this island have named these beaches after the mythical characters of the epic Ramayana, such as Sitapur, Bharatpur, Lakshmanpur, and Ramnagar, along with alluring spots. The beaches are famous of their shady trees and scenic views of sunrise and sunset.  One will certainly get awe-struck with the picturesque views on this island.
The Neil Island is the perfect place for rejuvenating and enjoying the long deserted beaches of the island. The widest part of the island is about 5 km in length and one stroll around the entire island in about the duration of two hours. Not similar to other islands of Andaman’s, Neil has a flat terrain. Laxmanpur Beach- This beach is located at a distance of around 2 km from Neil jetty, in Laxmanpur village. It is a beautiful beach with shallow water that makes it a perfect place for snorkeling. Other activities that you can enjoy at this beach are sun basking and swimming.
Natural Bridge- It is another chief attraction of Neil Island. The bridge is widely known as the Howrah Bridge, as the name was given by the local Bengalis, living in the Neil Island. The bridge is very much popular among the visiting tourists.
Sitapur Beach- The beach is located at the tip of Neil Island and is prone to high tides as it is exposed to open sea. Sitapur Beach is renowned for its natural vegetation and limestone formations.
Bharatpur Beach- The beach is among the most famed beaches in the islands of Andaman and Nicobar. It is popular among the tourists for activities like coral watching and swimming. You can explore the colorful corals under the water with glass bottom boats that are available at this beach. Other major attractions of this beach are the scenic lush green vegetation and fishes.
Radhanagar Beach- The beach is located on one of the scenic islands of Andaman and Nicobar, the Havelock Island. Radhanagar Beach is regarded as one of Asia’s best beach and is counted amongst the top ten beaches in the world. The beach provides several exciting activities like scuba diving, snorkeling, kayaking and swimming. Visitors can even enjoy the magnificent views of sunset and take fun elephant rides at the beach.
Elephant Beach- The beach is another famous beach of Havelock Island. Elephant Beach is popular for snorkeling, rich marine life and corals.
