BARREN ISLAND

Barren island, situated about 135 kms north-east of the Andaman group of islands is the only volcanic island with an active volcano in whole of south Asia, the first and last eruption to have occured in 1787 and 2010 respectively. The volcano itself intrigues a lot of people and is a factor of attraction. This land is devoid of any human population and is the home of wild goats and bats.

ROSS ISLAND

Ross island, former administrative headquarters of the Andaman and nicobar island during the British regime, which is situated approximately 2 kms to the east of Port Blair at its entry region of harbour is an evocative of its magnificent historic importance. You can witness the Victorian English relics of a church, swimming pool, cemetery and the regal residence of the chief commissioner. But this perfect Victorian English colony was annihilated by the impact of 1941earthquake and Japanese invasion. A small museum as well as the whole of Ross island is managed by the Indian navy. Ross islands is accessible via water sports complex by means of a boat.

MAHATMA GANDHI MARINE NATINAL PARK

Mahatma Gandhi marine national park is a national park situated in a tiny village called wandoor on the Andaman Islands. The park encompasses a wide area comprising of 15 islands. The two constituent islands namely jolly boys and red skin offer scuba diving, snorkelling and glass bottom boats which attract tourists from all over the world to come pay a visit to this national park. There is also a blissful golden beach packed with soft sands and decorated with dense greenery, coral reefs and coconut palms.

CELLULAR JAIL NATIONAL MEMORIUM

The cellular jail or Kala Pani, a former colonial British prison used to imprison Indian freedom fighters which is situated at a berdeen, near port Blair is now a reverend memorial to all the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives to free India of the British rule. The jail comprised of 7 wings and 693 cells. The prison has now become a national memorial monument and every Indian should visit this monument to realise the importance of the sacrifices of those deported in that prison.

SAMUDRIKA NAVAL MARINE MUSEUM

Samudrika naval marine base is situated in port Blair and run by the Indian navy. It has 5 sections dedicated to history, echo-system, Andaman mass, archaeology and marine life. The museum is informative especially of the marine life and has a wide collection of rare fish and corals. People should visit this place because it gives you a very good idea about the place you have come to visit.
